On Thursday, 17 September, UMA Wealth and its partners hosted the SWISS Cocktail at the Grand Hyatt São Paulo. After last year’s evening in Mexico City, we took the event south to Brazil, one of the most dynamic wealth markets in Latin America.
The evening was, above all, a showcase of what Switzerland does well. Switzerland’s reputation in wealth management was not built on one financial institution or one firm. It rests on the range and quality of its service providers: financial institutions, trust companies, law and tax firms, and independent advisers, each strong in its own field and used to working alongside the others. That is what we wanted to show in São Paulo. Financial institutions, trustees, lawyers and advisers were in one room, representing the depth of expertise the Swiss financial centre has to offer and the way it does business: carefully, discreetly, and for the long term.
The guest list reflected that same breadth. People came from across Brazil, from elsewhere in Latin America, and from Europe and beyond. The atmosphere was excellent from the first drink to the last, with plenty of lively conversation and many new connections made. The drinks, as promised on the invitation, were properly mixed.
Latin American families have been at the heart of UMA’s work for many years. More and more of them structure their affairs across several jurisdictions, and the conversations that matter often happen in rooms like this one, where the financial institution, the trustee and the lawyer are at the same table.
The SWISS Cocktail is a joint initiative. We organised this year’s edition together with Vontobel, KENDRIS, Advantage, Sophós Advisors, Capital Trustees and Müller Wealth · Law · Tax. Our sincere thanks to each of them for their commitment and for making the evening what it was.
Thank you to everyone who joined us and made it such a good evening.
And now the news: in 2027, the SWISS Cocktail goes to Panama. We look forward to seeing you there.
